What is global warming?

Global warming is the gradual increase in overall temperature of the earths atmosphere, surface and oceans, due to the raising levels of greenhouse gases. What exactly are greenhouse gases? Greenhouse gases are the trapping of the suns warmth in the planets lower atmosphere.
